Just a few yards from the beach, with beautiful garden areas and no roads to cross, our apartment is a perfect place to escape everyday life and enjoy a relaxing Spanish holiday.
The apartment itself is stylish but cosy. With two bedrooms, a patio overlooking the large pool and gardens (lovely to wake up to and enjoy the morning sun) and a kitchen equipped by people who love cooking, this is anything but the standard Ikea-furnished buy-to-let… it's a family home in a welcoming, laid-back Spanish resort. Benidorm it's not.
Beach-comber's paradise
You're within a couple of minutes stroll of a gorgeous, four mile long stretch of gently shelving sand, where you can always find a quiet spot and be sure that children will be safe. We love our beach. We think the best way to enjoy it is to do like the locals and wade through shallow water to the sandbanks where you can gather the famous local clams. There is such a thing as a free lunch!

Isla Canela has an attractive marina (where there are low-key international bars and restaurants if you want them) and an abundance of family-owned beach shacks and restaurants all serving spanking fresh seafood in an atmosphere that's honest, friendly and authentically Spanish. You're also within two or three miles of Ayamonte – a charming, typically Andalusian town packed with lovely squares, a fantastic market, welcoming tapas bars and restaurants, independent shops and a great little ferry across the river to Portugal (a top day out!).
Great golf, sight-seeing and nature
If you play golf, you'll find 30 top courses within an hour's drive, three of them right on the doorstep of Isla Canela. You're an hour and a half away from the magical city of Seville and about an hour from the heart of the Algarve, with two terrific water parks close at hand. Nature lovers can enjoy a day's flamingo spotting at the magnificent Doñana National Park, one of the largest in Spain.
Further afield, you can explore the ancient cities of Jerez, Cadiz and the beautiful countryside of the Sierra de Aracena.
The nearest airport is Faro in Portugal which is a 45 minute drive from Ayamonte. Faro is very-well served by all the low-cost airlines.
